Michelle & Ava

"This is the last time it will be just the two of us."

A maternity photo session with the first child, the soon-to-be older sibling, is so incredibly special. And Michelle is right, this will be the last time it will truly be just the two of them. Once the new baby arrives, the whole world is going to change, and a new normal will soon emerge that isn't better or worse, but certainly different.

And so, we took these few hours to document Michelle's beautiful pregnancy and to celebrate the relationship and love she shares with her daughter, Ava.

This is something I talk about all the time. The fact that you can't travel back in time, you can't go back and create photographs of something that has gone by. And it's not easy to dedicate a piece of our very busy lives to researching photographers and booking a session, but it is important. Especially if this is something you would like for your children to have when they become interested in what they looked like when they were little (not to mention what you looked like as their parent!)

And I heard it before, about giving up because the commitment was too much or life getting in the way. And if you're pregnant, you're already tired all the time. And on top of that, you now have to convince your husband that it is, in fact, worth it.

But I ask you to push through, to keep an eye on the primary intent - to create a legacy for your children to cherish, to enjoy beautiful portraits everyday and be reminded of your love as a family, of your beauty as a mother, and of moments that are worth remembering, always.
